  1. FTaskman 1.22 - Taskmanager-Replacement for Windows 3.1

  6. This is version 1.22 of FTaskman.
  7.  
  8. FTaskman is a replacement for the taskmanager of Windows 3.1
  9.  
  10.  
  11. FTaskman has the following additional functions to the normal taskmanager
  12.  
  13. - display the icons of all tasks (switchable)
  14. - multiselection -> e.g. end several tasks
  15. - show also invisible tasks (switchable)
  16. - minimize other tasks when 'Switch to'
  17. - new commands:
  18.   + minimize selected tasks
  19.   + minimize all tasks with the exception of the selected
  20.   + minimize all tasks
  21.   + start applications
  22.   + terminate tasks abruptly
  23.   + set tasks invisible or visible
  24.   + set tasks stay on top or delete stay on top
  25.   + tile windows horizontally or vertically
  26.   + arrange only selected windows
  27.   + exit Windows

  29. There is an english and a german version of FTaskman.

  33. Installation of FTaskman:
  34. =========================
  35.  
  36. - To use the german version of FTaskman you have to rename FTASKMAN.EXG
  37.   in FTASKMAN.EXE.
  38. - Copy FTASKMAN.EXE in your windows directory (or any directory you want)
  39. - Add the following line to the section [Boot] of the file SYSTEM.INI:
  40.  
  41.    TASKMAN.EXE=C:\WINDOWS\FTASKMAN.EXE
  42.   
  43.    (If you don't have copied FTASKMAN.EXE in the directory C:\WINDOWS
  44.     change this path to the name of the directory in which you have copied
  45.     FTASKMAN.EXE!)
  46. - If you want to use the library CTL3D.DLL (see below), you have to copy the
  47.   file CTL3D.DLL into the directory Windows\System.
  48.   But don't override a newer version of CTL3D.DLL.

  51. Commands of FTaskman
  52. ====================

  54. - Switch to: 
  55.     show selected tasks and activate the first of the seleted
  56. - End Task(s)
  57.     end selected tasks
  58. - Cancel
  59.     close taskman without doing anything
  60. - Minimize task(s)
  61.     minimize selected tasks
  62. - Minimize others
  63.     minimize all tasks with the exception of the selected
  64. - Minimize all
  65.     minimize all tasks
  66. - Cascade
  67.     cascade all mainwindows
  68. - Tile vertical
  69.     tile mainwindows vertical
  70. - Tile horizontal
  71.     tile mainwindows horizontal
  72. - Show invisible
  73.     show invisible tasks
  74. - Arrange only selected tasks
  75.     if you select one of the three arrange functions 'Cascade', 'Tile vertical'
  76.     or 'Tile horizontal' only the selected tasks will be arranged.
  77.     This option has no meaning to the function 'Arrange icons'.

  97.     show a dialog from where an application could be started.
  98.     If you press the right mouse button in the edit field 'Command'
  99.     you will see a list of the last used commands (if the history is enabled -
  100.     see below) and you can select one of them.
  101.     You can't specify parameters for the application!

  109. - Show icons in tasklist
  110. - Default: show invisible
  111. - Default: show full dialog
  112. - Default: Arrange only selected tasks
  113. - Minimize other tasks when 'Switch to'
  114.     If you switch to one or more tasks with 'Switch to', all other tasks 
  115.     will be minimized
  116. - Close only after 'Switch to' and 'End Task'
  117.     FTaskman will only close if you select 'Switch to', 'End Task' or 'Cancel'.
  118.     With this option you can do some functions of FTaskman without starting
  119.     FTaskman again after each operation.
  120. - Save position on exit
  121.     The position of FTaskman will be saved so the next time FTaskman will
  122.     start at the same position
  123. - Use pattern in dialog
  124.     With this checkbox you can enable or disable the gray pattern around the
  125.     dialogs.
  126. - Number of commands in the history list of the 'Run' dialog
  127.     If you press the right mouse button in the 'Command' edit field of the
  128.     'Run' dialog you will see a history of previous used commands. The length
  129.     of the history is controlled by the value of this filed. You can enter
  130.     a value between 0 and 20. If you enter 0 the history function is disabled.
  131. - Sort tasks
  132.     Lets you choose if the tasklist will not be sorted, sorted alphabetically
  133.     or will be sorted reverse alphabetically.
  134. - Place invisible tasks
  135.     You can place invisible tasks at the top or at the bottom of the tasklist
  136. - Number of lines in task list
  137.     The value of the two edits will control the number of lines you will see
  138.     in the task list. You can enter a value between 1 and 30 for the listbox
  139.     with icons and the listbox without icons. 
  140.     Note: The number of lines of tasks is adjusted to the maximal size of
  141.     your screen so the dialog can't get bigger as your screen.

  143. You can also access most of the commands and options with a popup menu, 
  144. if you press the right mouse button in the task listbox.

  147. Invisible tasks will be marked with a 'ñ'.

  149. The tasklist will not show tasks which have no title, because the standard
  150. taskmanager also don't show them and there are a lot of untiteled windows 
  151. which your system uses for internal things.

  154. FTaskman will use the CTL3D library from Microsoft to let the dialog controls
  155. look 3 dimensional. If you don't like this look add
  156.  
  157. UseCtl3d=0

  159. to the section [FTaskMan] in WIN.INI.

  166. You can use and distribute FTaskman free, as long as the following files are 
  167. not changed and you distribute all files together

  174. I am programming FTaskman for fun and not to make any profit. 
  175. That's why FTaskman is free and you don't have to pay more or less high 
  176. registration charges. I think it is a bad habit, that more and more program 
  177. authors want to have money even for the smallest programs.

  193. 1.22: - Fixed a bug with overlapping controls in the Options dialog.
  194.       - Fixed a bug: If a checkbox or radiobox had the focus and FTaskman was
